Geonets Geocomposites Fabrics are high strength polymer grids with integrally fused joints having high dimensional stability and junction strength.Manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HPDE), Geonets are also protected against environmental and ultra-violet degradation.

Slope Erosion Control: Geonets 131 along with Non-woven Geotextile are ideally suited for erosion control of slopes.

These are installed on the surface of slope along with top soil for vegetation growth:
  • Prevent erosion of soil by retarding the velocity of water run-off on slope with its three dimensional profile
  • Promote water percolation in soil as well for growth of natural vegetation
  • Once vegetation is established on the slope surface, the girds act as permanent reinforcing medium for grass roots
  • This helps in generation of dense grass cover by preventing the roots from washout even in adverse weather conditions

Gabions for Coastal Erosion Control or Waterfront Protection
  • In case of heavy erosion and scouring which takes place in sea coasts/river banks due to extensive wave action, it is essential to break up the waves and control erosion. Gabion application helps in
  • Break up and absorption of wave energy
  • This leads to process of silting and consequently offers permanent solution to the erosion problem

Gabions and Mattresses for waterfront protection are easily constructed at site in various sizes by fabricating a box like structure from the Geogrid roll (ready made netting) with jointing being done with polymer ropes. The box structure is filled with stones and the topflap closed and braided.

Application:
  • Road and Railway Embankments
  • Rock slopes and cliff faces
  • River and canal bank protection
  • Sea walls and breakwaters
  • River bank protection
  • Waterway control structures

Advantages:
  • Gabion construction does not require heavy plant or machinery
  • Gabion walls can be constructed on filled up compacted soil/rock fill having low bearing capacity and structured may be added later on
  • Construction of gabion retaining walls does not require cement and sand also curing time
  • Local labour can quickly trained to construct high quality structures
  • Construction makes use of low cost locally available stone/boulders quickly
  • Rapid construction makes them ideal for emergency relief works

“A high-quality needle punched Paving Geocomposites Fabric that, when installed on a bituminous tack coat, performs as a Stress Absorbing Membranes Inter layer (SAMI) and inhibits the upward propagation of cracks from the underlying pavement into the overlay”. This condition is often referred to as reflective crack control. Paving Geocomposites Fabric offers optimum tensile strength with high corresponding elongation. This ensures that the saturated Non-woven will absorb stress but still follow the contours of the underlying surface. Paving Geocomposites Fabric exhibits critical bitumen retention properties that ensures sound adhesion between the old and new surfacing layers. This encourages bitumen to be drawn up from the tack coat and provides for an easy installation that results in a strong bond being developed between the fabric and underlying surface. Forms a permanent waterproof barrier that prevents moisture or water penetration into the road base from above. This protects the subsoil from water intrusion through the pavement and any subsequent reduction in bearing capacity. The product is available in several widths.

    Surface Preparation:
The existing pavement surface has to be cleaned to remove dirt, oil, water and other foreign bodies. Large holes and cracks greater than 5 mm should be filled with warm asphalt or other suitable filler.

    Tack Coat:
The correct quantity of bituminous tack coat should be sprayed onto the existing pavement surface.

    Laying:
Paving fabric can be unrolled manually or mechanically. Mechanical unrolling helps minimise the number of wrinkles due to the fabric being stretched slightly during installation.
It is recommended that Paving fabric be unrolled so that the labelled surface of the fabric is in contact with the pavement surface. Overlaps should be between 10 cm and 15 cm, and should be made in the paving (driving) direction. The use of extra bituminous tack coat is recommended between overlaps. Heavy trafficking on the Paving fabric should be avoided during installation. Wrinkles greater than 2 cm to 3 cm high, should be cut, open and laid flat.

    Asphalt Overlay Installation:
Overlay installation can follow on immediately after the Paving fabric placement. A hot asphalt temperature is required to soften the underlying bitumen and to ensure maximum saturation of the Paving fabric in order to create the membrane effect. The temperature of the asphalt should not exceed 140°C when it comes into contact with the Paving fabric. An asphalt overlay thickness of 5 cm is recommended. An asphalt overlay thickness of 5 cm is recommended.

      Rockshield Geotextile Fabric

      Method to Use
      :
      • After the necessary protective coating/wrapping is given, pieces of rockshield are wrapped around the pipe (each piece overlapped by approximately 10 cm) and secured in place with polyester/polypropylene straps and buckles. Alternatively, self-adhesive polypropylene tapes may be used.

      Application:
      • Protective Jacket for sub-surface oil and gas pipelines for "Rocky terrains"
      • Used to safeguard against physical damage and as a component in cathodic protection systems

      Advantages:
      • Rockshield has been specifically developed as a protective jacket for cross country pipelines. Material containing stones and rocks are used as backfill for this pipeline passing through the rocky strata. Rockshield prevents mechanical damage to primary wrap/coating during back filling operations and more important ensures continued effectiveness of cathodic protection. The padding also offers protection during lifting and placing operations.

      Features:
      • Sufficient weight, thickness and strength to protect the cross country oil and gas pipeline
      • Prevents mechanical damage during lifting, laying and back filling operation
      • Mesh aperture size, which prevents stones and rocks from coming into contact with pipe wrapping, but large enough to allow maximum amount of fine particle material to percolate and fill the apertures and thereby ensuring effectiveness of “cathodic protection”
